Sean (Steve)'s Story

Life After college, I bounced around a bit and wound up in Canada -- Toronto, then Calgary -- for almost two decades. Came back to the States a few years ago and now work/live near Research Triangle Park near Raleigh as a senior designer for an exhibit/trade show booth manufacturer. Pretty quiet life: me, my four cats, and that's about it. It's been an interesting ride getting to this point, that's for sure. I came out as a gay man about 1978 and never looked back once. I'm sure everyone around me had it figured out long before I did, but I guess that's been true of most of my life experience -- LOL. But it hasnt changed things a whole lot, all things considered. I'm still this guy that gets up in the morning, goes to work, comes home to dinner, goes out with friends, and occasionally goes out with someone special for a wild evening of a movie and dinner at a Chinese restaurant. I pretty much keep to myself nowadays. I had one great and glorious relationship with a man who died of AIDS in 1984, and I havent been able to recreate the magic of what we had since... so I've stopped banging my head against that particular wall and accepted that when it's right for something new to come into my life, God will let me know. But gotta tell ya, sometimes I really wish He'd hurry. :-) Most of my best friends these days are, not unsurprisingly, online. I belong to a number of social networks - both professional and social - for everything from my job skill as an exhibit designer to a historical online RPG that's all text based. But they're all good people -- some of them I've known for over a decade: we've exchanged pictures of ourselves and our f...Expand for more
amilies and our pets and our cars and everything else you can imagine -- so there's no real difference, IMHO, between having them as online friends and as RW friends. School I dont remember a lot about high school, to be frank. Some of my frinds -- Lane, Tim, Randy, Maureen -- and some of my crushes (who shall remain nameless :-) ). But the classes? The after school activities? All a bit (no, a lot) of a blur. I pretty much just drifted through those years, and I'm not sure why. College Again, another drifting period. If high school is a blur, college is pretty much non-existant, save for one night when I went to a fellow student's dorm room and we watched some movie on his little black and white TV set while eating pizza from some place down the road. I had a *huge* crush on him, and never said a word... and now, all I can remember is that he was from Truth or Consequences, NM, and his family had something to do with the ski industry. But man... those eyes... Workplace I started working in graphic design while living in San Francisco after getting out of the service in 1974. From there, I added more and more to the skillset, becoming reasonably polished in illustration, design, 3D work, and the like. Now my time is split between my regular job as an exhibit designer and my continuing work as an illustrator/cartoonist, which you can see at my website, (google my name, you'll find it soon enough ¿ except, no, I'm not the drummer for Hatebreed and I've never performed on Broadway and I dont write books about medieval life; try Wikipedia and "Canadian cartoonist"). You'll also find out who Joey is, if you look deep enough into the web site.
